Vipassana Meditation Centre of BC | Dhamma Surabhi

Dhamma Surabhi means “Fragrance of Dhamma”

Facilities

The current main building houses the kitchen, dining hall, accommodation with shared bathrooms, and the meditation hall. An inner courtyard provides a lovely garden visible from the dining hall. The facilities include a commercial, volunteer-run kitchen, which provides simple and delicious vegetarian food.

There is a mixture of accommodation at the centre, including single rooms—some with adjacent bathrooms—and some shared rooms with partitions. Pathways connect all the rooms and facilities. Wheelchair facilities are available.

Centre Management may be able to pick up students or servers at the Bus stop in Merritt (except on the day a course starts).  Local Taxi service can bring you from the bus stop to the Centre.

Looking back!

From bare land, to a temporary outdoor meditation hall, to a centre that serves over 100 people, every Centre is the work of thousands of hands. From volunteers showing up when we need them most to hired architects and contractors, a Centre slowly gets built over time.

Looking ahead!

The Centre land was purchased in 1997. Construction began in 1999. As we look ahead, we envision four student residences with single rooms and ensuite bathrooms, an expanded Dhamma Hall, a new kitchen & dining complex, and a pagoda with individual rooms for meditation.
