Serve Work Period
Twice a year the Centre schedules Work Periods for five or more days. The dates for such periods (usually in May and September) are published on our schedule website. The focus is on upkeep and maintenance of the Centre. Cleaning, service and repair of appliances, fixtures and the Centre itself, yard work and construction are usually done during work periods. The Centre Manager will plan tasks taking into account the needs of the Centre and the skills of servers who have volunteered.
Daily there will be three group sittings and two work sessions in between. On evenings, special audio or video Dhamma presentations may be scheduled. The Dhamma library kept in the kitchen is available for perusal during the rest periods. The servers are encouraged to observe noble speech during their entire stay.
All old students can apply to serve for the entire or part of the Work Period.
The Dhamma Service Period has a relaxed schedule that includes three daily group sittings, work on seasonal projects, and various evening programs designed to both inform and inspire old students. This DSP program is for all old students who have sat at least one course with S. N. Goenka or one of his assistant teachers and who have not practiced another meditation technique since their last course. Any such old student is welcome to serve all, or part, of the program.
Please apply if you have the time and volition to serve. We hope to see you soon.
